Dr. DeCleene is the Director of Occupational Therapy and Assistant Professor. Her clinical experience has been in pediatrics where she holds a certification in Sensory Integration through WPS/USC.

Kate is currently serving on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Board of Directors and is a member of the Occupational Therapy in Health Care Editorial Board. In 2009, Kate was selected for one of the AOTA/AOTF Fellowships in Leadership Development. She is one of 16 Fellows in the national program. This program fosters the emergence of strong occupational therapy leaders within the academic community.

During her doctoral degree, Kate assisted in a research project for the American Occupational Therapy Commission on Education which led to the publication of the document titled, Education for specialized services for people with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in entry level occupational therapy curricula in the United States (2007).

She was also an examiner in the standardization study for the Developmental Profile 3rd Edition with Western Psychological Services (WPS). She has continued to serve as an examiner for WPS in the development of the Goal-Orientated Assessment of Lifeskills (GOAL). Her professional memberships include the American Occupational Therapy Association and Indiana Occupational Therapy Association.

Her professional interests include: sound therapy programs, fieldwork education, interdisciplinary education, professional behaviors in students, and curriculum development/design.
