St. Vincent Hospital
Location & Type of Facility:
St. Vincent Hospital is a 620 bed acute care facility located on the Northwest
side of Indianapolis, with another growing inpatient facility in Carmel, as
well as multiple outpatient sites around the city, and affiliating hospitals
in the state of Indiana. It is part of a larger Catholic medical corporation,
Ascension Health, and is a non-profit hospital. There are 8 full-time O.T.'s
and 2 part-time O.T's. Our daily O.T. census may be between 70-100 pts.
OT Programs and Services Provided:
Occupational therapy is provided for inpatients in neurovascular, cardiovascular,
pediatric, oncology, subacute rehabilitation, geriatric, psychiatric, orthopedic,
intensive care, and general medical-surgical patient units. We have treatment
satellites on the Transitional Care unit and the Neurovascular units, and
one is planned for our new pediatrics building.
O.T. is provided for outpatients, as well, including opportunities for student
observation, but no affiliation or practicum student assignments there. In
addition, there is opportunity for observation or student assignment at our
St. Vincent Children's Specialty Hospital, formerly known as Lifelines, which
is a rehabilitation and outpatient facility for children.
