Level I Fieldwork

Students are required to complete 56 hours of Level I Fieldwork during each academic year, for a total of 112 hours. Normally these fieldwork experiences involve placement in two different facilities for a total of 28 hours each. Objectives have been established for these experiences through course syllabi and a seminar course allows the student to have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to the “real world” setting.

These Level I experiences may occur during the academic semester on Thursdays, during Christmas or Spring break, or immediately following Spring Term during the month of May. The Academic Fieldwork Director finalizes all placements to assure that students receive the various clinical experiences needed.

Level I Fieldwork is supervised by qualified personnel including, but not limited to, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, teachers, social workers, nurses, physical therapists, etc. Students must successfully complete all Level I Fieldwork prior to starting any Level II Fieldwork
