Level II Fieldwork involves a minimum of 24 weeks of full time fieldwork. Normally students are placed in two different facilities for three months each, allowing development of a broad range of clinical intervention skills; however, students may be placed in a minimum of one and a maximum of four different settings.
All occupational therapy students must complete Level II Fieldwork within 24 months following completion of academic preparation. Clinical sites determine the way in which clinical hours are finally scheduled. The Academic Fieldwork Director finalizes all placements to assure that students receive the various clinical experiences needed. A modified lottery system is used to initially assign student placements for Level II Fieldwork, allowing the student to choose his or her placement. Supervision of students on Level II Fieldwork is provided by an occupational therapist with a minimum of one-year experience in a practice setting.
