May I continue to work full-time AND earn a postprofessional MHS or DHS?
Yes! Our postprofessional degree programs are specifically designed for
licensed OTs to work full-time and earn a degree on a part-time basis.
Each 3-credit course meets for one long weekend - all day Friday, all
day Saturday, and a half-day on Sunday. Students complete reading and
writing pre-assignments, attend the weekend course, then complete a final
post-course assignment from home. Students who travel, usually drive
or fly in on Thursday night and leave on Sunday afternoon. Most of our
students juggle full-time work and personal schedules, along with the
part-time course work. If you are interested in hearing from a current
student, please let us know.
How much pre- and post-course work is involved?
The course registration deadline is typically two months prior to the weekend
of in-class instruction so that students have plenty of time to complete
pre-assignments. The actual amount of pre- and post-course study varies,
depending on the course and the instructor.
When do classes begin?
We consider postprofessional applications as we receive them. Once you
are admitted, then you will communicate with your advisor to select appropriate
courses. Our students begin courses throughout the year, depending on
which courses best fit their personal schedules.
May I transfer graduate credits from another accredited university?
Advisors review credits and make transfer decisions on an individual basis.
The transcript and course syllabus are important in their decision-making
process. Upon advisor approval, transfer credits may be used as core
or elective courses, but not to meet specialty track course requirements.
Do I have to go through the admission process just to take one course?
No, if you submit just the Non-degree application form, then you may register
for 1 - 3 courses. The Non-degree application does not require a transcript or copy of the OT license.
